2016 Datsun redi-GO launched at affordable Rs. 2.38 lakh in India

Datsun announced their newest addition to the Indian automotive market, the new redi-GO starting at just Rs. 2.38 lakh and going up to RS. 3.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), with top end models.

The new entry-level release is set to cause disruption among current competitors’ offerings, which are priced slightly higher than the new redi-GO. The new car will feature in five different variants labelled: A, D, S, T, T(O) with daytime running lamps (DRLs) in the higher priced models.

The new hatchback is said to come with the highest ground clearance in its class of cars at 185mm. The boot capacity is 222 liters, which is quite decent as large SUVs provide you with about 600 liters.

The hatchback is designed similar to the concept car unveiled first in 2014 with a few minor changes on the outside. The car appears compact but is both muscular as well as tall, so there’s a decent amount room inside. It sports a bold grille on the front along with headlights that are shaped like the eyes of a wolf.

The car is powered by a 799cc three-cylinder petrol engine that uses Intelligent Spark Automated Technology and produces 53hbp of power at 5678rpm; along with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The insides of the Datsun redi-GO come with a 2-DIN audio system, USB and AUX connectivity, a CD player with two speakers, power windows and power steering on top-end models. Datsun suggests the new car provides a mileage of around 25.17 km/l.

Bookings for the new car began last month and the deliveries are expected to begin any day now, considering that the launch is already over. Datsun, the Japanese car maker, hasn’t had much luck with their past releases like the Go and GO+. It is to be seen how the competitively priced redi-GO will fare in the Indian market after the last two failures.
