Android 7.0 Nougat release date leaked: Coming to Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X on August 22

Google is reportedly preparing to launch the upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat very soon. As usual, the Nexus smartphones will be the first to receive the new OS. The Android N is expected come along with two brand new Nexus devices, the Nexus Marlin and the Nexus Sailfish. The current Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will possibly start to get updated to the forthcoming Operating System from August 22 onward.

The new information comes from the software update timeline of a Canadian carrier, TELUS. The schedule clearly mentions that both the Nexus smartphones will receive the Nougat update from the coming Monday. Even though the source seems reliable, these are not the official dates and there may be some delays.

Update Schedule

The Android Nougat comes with a handful of new features and a host of improvements. In the latest Android version, Google puts more emphasis on internal enhancements than cosmetic changes. Android 7.0 will natively support running and interacting with multiple applications simultaneously by splitting the display.

The successor of Android Marshmallow will allow you to split the screen of your smartphone by any desired ratio. This functionality is nothing new in the smartphone world and manufacturers like Samsung and LG have been providing this to their flagship devices for quite some time. Now, with the feature inbuilt into the Operating System, any devices running the Android Nougat will be able to take its advantage.

An experimental Window mode is also expected to arrive with the upcoming Android OS. Using this, you can get a desktop-like experience in your Android N device. You will be able to run apps in windows which are capable of overlapping each other for a true PC-like multi-tasking.

The forthcoming Android 7.0 Nougat will bring a new interactive notification interface. It will support inline responses, using which you can send a quick reply to messages or make a specific selection, etc. This feature was also made available by a number of smartphone makers in their devices.

There is also an upgraded “Doze” mode in Nougat which offers deeper and much more intelligent power saving ability. The upgrade allows more in-depth hardware integration, which in turn results in improved battery saving. The new “Doze” mode can detect if the Android handset is a journey and automatically cuts CPU and RAM usage with just allowing the essential processes to run.

The Nexus 6P is the most powerful Nexus smartphone at the moment. With the Snapdragon 810 and a perfectly optimized stock Android Operating System, it is one of the snappiest smartphones in the world.

The Nexus 5X may not boast the same amount of horsepower as the former, but the Snapdragon 808 in it has got a number of advantages. Although the Snapdragon 810 is known for its over-heating issues, the 808 is a clean and very consistent SoC.
