Apple iPad Mini to be available in limited numbers

Apple Inc (APPL) is likely to delay the roll-out of the new version of iPad Mini with high-resolution ‘retina display’. The reason behind the delay is unclear however; some sources reveal delays in Apple’s certification of panel producers, which were given strict power-saving requirements is possible reason for the holdup.

Apple iPad Mini to be available in Limited Numbers

Apple defines retina display as resolution that is detailed enough where a naked human eye can’t detect pixelation. So, one can expect the newer version with sharper display and some other specifications upgraded.

Apple Inc will be unable to widely roll out a new version of the iPad Mini with a high-resolution “retina” display this month, people who work in the company’s supply chain said, leaving the gadget without the sharper screen found on rival tablets from Google Inc and Amazon.com Inc, reports Reuters.

Apple is yet to announce what changes it will introduce in the iPad Mini 2 but as anticipated widely, it is set to enhance the quality of the display to catch up with rivals. Similar quality screens can be found in rival tablets from Google and Amazon that are available with similar specifications but at lower prices.

Apple to gain an upper hand in this regard is planning to roll out an iPad Mini with a smaller 8 gigabytes of memory since,  low memory may help Apple lower the price of the Mini and boost sales in emerging markets like China where Android tablets are gaining market share.

If all this is to be believed, it’s certain that retina display-equipped iPad Mini would not be available in large volumes until early next year. Apple meanwhile, declined to comment on the matter.
