Apple Music Streaming Service starts at Rs. 120 in India

Following OS X El Capitan, iOS 9 and watchOS 2 Apple announced it’s Music streaming service at the World Wide Developers Conference on 8th of June in San Francisco.

Making its appearance with iOS 8.4, Apple Music is set to launch on 30th of June in 100 countries, including India.

Price of this music streaming service was discovered in iOS 9 beta, which is already available for all the developers. Apple Music will cost Rs. 120 per month for individual accounts. The family account is priced at Rs. 180 per month.

On the United States counterpart the same service costs $9.99 per month – approximately Rs. 640 – for individual accounts and $14.99 per month – approximately Rs. 960 – for the family account. In a different perspective, iTunes Match costs $24.99 per year – approximately Rs. 1600 – in the United States whereas it costs Rs. 1200 per year in India.

Apple Music is featuring over 30 million songs along with world’s first 24/7 radio called “Beats 1”. Apple says it’s music suggestion engine is curated by industry experts so you’ll get the best of the songs every time.

Additionally, it’s going to compete with SoundCloud and let users share their music. There’s a “Connect” feature that would help artist to connect with their fans and share the lyrics, behind the scenes photos and more.

Apple seems to have analysed Indian music streaming services and their tariff. Putting the price tag as low as Rs. 120, Apple Music is going to compete against Saavn (Rs. 120 per month for Saavn Pro Lite and Rs. 250 per month for Saavn Pro) and Gana.com (Rs. 99 per month).
