Asus has just launched a new Intel-powered netbook in India called EeeBook X205. The new netbook runs on 32-bit Windows 8.1 operating system and comes with one year Office 365 subscription. It’ll go on sale for Rs. 14,999.
The new device sports an 11.6-inch HD glare display that has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This slim and light laptop is claimed to be the lightest notebooks Asus as to offer.
Under the hood, the Asus EeeBook X205 features an 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Bay Trail Atom Z3735 processor with Intel HD Graphics and 2GB RAM. Although the device is said to pack 32 GB of internal storage, only about 20 GB is available to the user. It does have a microSD expansion slot which lets you add external memory cards up to 128 GB.
Asus’ new netbook has two USB 2.0 ports which can be used to connect external portable hard disk drives with the laptop. Microsoft will also offer 15 GB OneDrive storage with each of these devices as well as 100 GB additional OneDrive storage space for two years since purchase. Asus too will offer 500 GB of its WebStorage online space to the user free for two years.
The Asus EeeBook X205 has WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and micro HDMI output. The device will be available in Blue, White, Gold and Red colors from online retailer Flipkart. By the first week of next month, the laptop will hit Asus stores across India.
While one might think that the netbooks have been replaced by the array of tablets available out there today, Asus seems to be confident that there is still place for a tablet-sized netbook that has full sized keyboard and touchpad. If the device’s performance is good and the keyboard’s tactile feedback as well as the touchpad performance is satisfactory, they may be right with the device for that price.
