Ford announces Sync integration with Amazon Echo and several more

At the Detroit International Auto show 9 years back, Ford showed us the connected car theme by displaying its entertainment and Sync Communications system. Nonetheless, as technology is advancing, cars will be more capable of interacting with various software and devices.

DJI and Ford together announced a challenge for tech-pros, wherein they get a chance of winning $100,000. All they were supposed to do is figure out how dashboard touch-screen in Ford vehicle can  be used for launching a drone. The software might either be OpenXC technologies or Ford-Built AppLink.

Search-and-rescue system is how the website has framed this challenge. The aircraft should enter the disaster area autonomously and after gathering information, it has to transmit it back to the vehicle’s computing device. After all the necessary information is gathered, landing automatically on the vehicle is the requirement.

Obviously, the applications of Drone control might be more than mere searching and rescuing. In the year 2014, a concept car was designed by Renault that had a small flying drone that could be controlled with preset GPS or tablet. In this case, the flying drone failed to scan the road for possible traffic jams.

Ford is looking for ways through which it can connect its cars with wireless speaker, Amazon Echo as well as voice-assistant. If it is successful, various devices can be integrated in the onboard systems of the vehicles.

IoT has gained a lot of importance since last year and still remains to be popular. Although IoT is suitable for home technologies, it can be used in cars as well to increase the sophistication of sensors.
