Honda Jazz SUV/Crossover to be launched by 2017 in India

Trying to cash in the latest trend of SUVs/crossover demand in developing market, Honda has been working on Jazz based crossover named WR-V. A test mule of the crossover version of the existing Jazz hatchback was spotted in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The new vehicle was caught wearing a camouflage while having a test drive. The model is rumored to launch at Sao Paulo Motor Show scheduled for November 8-20, 2016. The new vehicle will be available in the international market during the year 2017. Just like every other crossover, the upcoming WR-V is also a rugged version of the Jazz. The designs and many of its element will remain similar with the hatchback.

But it is expected that WR-V will cost Rs 1 lakh more than the Jazz even though it will come with the same features.

Reports are also coming that after its debut at Sao Paulo, the upcoming crossover model will likely go on sale in the South American market.

Features

Since the upcoming model has features similar to the Jazz platform, so there is not much difference in the weight. Like its, predecessor WR-V will also use the 1.5 L-VTEC motor and come with body cladding and higher ground clearance. To have better road presence the company may also launch the model with bigger wheels and chunky roof rails.

The WR-V will also include new front grille, smoked headlamps, scuff plates and all round plastic cladding. There will be a minor modification in the inside of the SUV as well. Rumors are doing the round that the cabin will have air-con vents, steering wheel and large chrome on the dashboard.

But for the Indian market, the upcoming model will probably borrow the Jazz 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel powertrain options. Even the cabin will have both 5-speed manual and CVT automatic on offer.

Pricing

It is rumored that the prices for the Jazz based crossover WR-V will start from 7 lakh (ex-showroom) and for top spec variant it may even go up to Rs 10 lakh.

From the spy pics, it is quite clear that the model is production ready and is at the final stage of its testing. In India, however, it will be launched in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2017.
