Huawei Active Antenna Unit solution ushering in an era of massive deployment

Huawei announced to deploy its innovative Active Antenna Unit (AAU) Solution on 100 commercial networks across the globe. Touted to be the exclusive part of Huawei’s GigaRadio, the AAU outperforms traditional solutions since it can be easily deployed on multi-mode networks while working on multiple frequency bands.

It ultimately reduces site space and rental fees. Moreover, portable and compact AAUs can be easily installed on poles, walls and other public facilities in urban areas.

Based on the exceptional results from trials on specified networks, a large number of telecom operators in Latin America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, South Pacific, China and others have successfully deployed AAUs on large scale live networks.

Commenting on the development, Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei Wireless Network Marketing Department, Yang Chaobin disclosed that the company is committed to satisfying customer requirements by implementing latest technological innovations, which helps them to address various challenges.

Chaobin, meanwhile, revealed that the AAU solution is designed and developed to address site construction issues in the MBB era, and its deployment by global operators has created a new era for base stations to supply reliable and error free radio frequency units.

Earlier in 2005, Huawei implemented the innovative Remote Radio Unit (RRU) solution that changed the way in which the indoor macro base stations are created. By saving site space and massive rental fees, operators gained productivity and invested the funds in the development of other areas.

The RRU solution, till 2011, was deployed on a broad range of sites around the world to improve network performance and thereby garnering positive reviews from both operators and customers.

When AAU solution was officially launched in 2011, it not only integrated radio frequency units with antenna systems but also was environment-friendly. Hence, the solution provided excellent network performance at the reduced cost of ownership.
