Micromax subsidiary Yu announces mega sale of Yureka smartphone on Amazon

Micromax’s subsidiary, YU has announced that it would offer 10,000 units of its 4G device for a maiden sale, scheduled to be held on January 13. Micromax is currently the second-largest smartphone manufacturer in India.

On account of the exponential growth in the sector, the company launched its new subsidiary last year. The company’s subsidiary, YU has recently announced its plans to put one of its 4G devices on a huge maiden sale.

The company said that it would offer as many as 10,000 units of its smartphone “Yureka” for the sale. The company had unveiled the device last month at a launch price of Rs. 8,999.

Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Yu said in an interview with PTI that the step seems promising with unprecedented registrations. He said that the smartphone witnessed such an overwhelming response that the company had to close the registrations a day ahead of schedule.

Yu had planned that the company would enroll buyers till 25 December. However, due to excess registrations, they had to close registrations on December 24 only.

Although the registrations were limited to buyers from within the country, the company said that the launch has attracted customers from across the globe.

The device, named “Yureka,” is the first launch for Yu and has been announced collaboratively with Cyanogen OS. Yureka runs on Android OS. However, CyanogenMod provides additional features with the phone that are not found in the stock firmware sold by most handset vendors.

Among some technical specifications of the device, include, a 5.5-inch HD Display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa core processor with 2GB RAM.

Yureka has been put on sale on Amazon and will be made available to registered users. The e-commerce firm has also promised cash on delivery facility for buyers of the product.
