New Xiaomi Redmi 4 variant with 2GB RAM reportedly under works

After a GFXBench listing earlier spotted revealing specs of the upcoming HTC Desire 10 Pro, a mystery handset from Xiaomi has now surfaced on GeekBench. The smartphone codenamed the Xiaomi Mido, has been listed on GeekBench running Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset bundled with 2GB of RAM. The device is expected to come with Android 6.0.1 out-of-the-box. Going by the specs, the device is most likely the 2GB RAM variant of the Xiaomi Redmi 4, and is expected to get 16GB of built-in storage. While we can expect another version of the same device with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

Both the Xiaomi Redmi 4 variants or Xiaomi Mido smartphones are expected to feature a 5-inch display. However, there’s still no information about the device’s display resolution. According to reports, the Xiaomi Mido was run through GeekBench twice, with single-core scores of 842, 806 and multi-core scores of 3608, 3763. While its 3GB RAM variant spotted earlier this month in GeekBench had single and multi-core scores of 929 and 4751 respectively.

Xiaomi has been on a launching spree lately. The Chinese manufacturer, just last month, launched the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime smartphones in India after launching them in china earlier this year. The handsets have already exploded in popularity, thanks to a combination of an impressive spec sheet and competitive price tag (Rs. 6,999).

Besides, the company also launched the Redmi Pro last month, along with ‘Notebook Air’ range of laptops.  Just yesterday, the company launched the Redmi Note 4 smartphone in China. One of the highlights of the Redmi Note 4  is the addition of a USB Type-C port, making it the first device in the company’s entire smartphone range to feature the new USB Type-C standard.

The latest addition to the Redmi Note series comes in two variants – one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage, along with a 3GB RAM variant with 64GB of inbuilt storage. Both variants are slated to go on sale in China starting August 26, via the company’s online store.

Key specifications of the newly launched Redmi Note 4 include a 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display with a pixel density of 401 ppi. The smartphone is powered by a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor bundled with Mali T880 MP4 GPU. In terms of storage, both 2GB and 3GB RAM variants will offer support for microSD expandable storage of up to 128GB.
