OnePlus 3 Mini specs leak shows 4.6-inch display, 6GB RAM and more

Today, the GFXBench site threw up a new phone which many experts feel could be the new OnePlus 3 Mini. However, this is only speculation and the official announcement is yet awaited.

The benchmarking site reveals a device with a 4.6-inch screen and a resolution of 1080 x 1920. It carried a Quad Core Snapdragon 820 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz processor complemented by an Adreno 530 GPU. The device has 6 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 64 GB. The device boasts a primary camera of 16 MP and a secondary camera of 8 MP for selfies and video chatting.

The rest of the specs are akin to OnePlus 3. If this is OnePlus 3 Mini, the manufacturer has reduced the screen size but has retained all the other high-end features.

However, the co-founder of the company has denied the rumors on Twitter and said that no such device was in the pipeline. Again this could be a measure to prevent the Mini cannibalizing the most endowed version of the OnePlus 3.

Another question which could pop up; which phone it is if it is not OnePlus 3 Mini? Any phone which has figured in any benchmark listing does not mean that it will be released by the manufacturer. It could be a case of a prototype handset being examined for component performance in in-house testing.

Although there is no evidence any link with the OnePlus, the similarity of features between the two gives weight to the suspicion that it could be a nano version of the highly successful bigger cousin. Companies usually try to cash in on the popularity of the larger version by releasing a smaller but miniaturized version.

The buzz of the successful device will make it that much easier to market a smaller version. The chances of it being the OnePlus 3 Mini are very high. In this case, it will surely figure at the FCC or TENNA for certification. We will be keeping a close eye on these two locations, so remain connected to know more.

The strong request of the OnePlus 3 has forced OnePlus to stop the sales of the device in more than two dozen countries for a month. The company hopes to utilize the pause to build up its inventory so that such a situation is not repeated. The company was not able to gauge the demand for the device in Europe, and thankfully the demand exceeded the supply, so it is good tidings.
