Attention Samsung Galaxy Note 7 customers: Upgrade to Galaxy S8 or Note 8 at 50 percent discount

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be able to upgrade to the upcoming Galaxy S8 or Note 8 at 50 percent discount. According to sources, Samsung will offer an upgrade program to Galaxy Note 7 customers in South Korea who exchange the handset for a Galaxy S7 phone. Moreover, those customers who exchange Note 7 for Galaxy S7 will be eligible to get Galaxy S8 at 50 percent discount via an upgrade program.

In a statement, Samsung revealed that customers who opt in for the upgrade program will be required to pay only 50 percent for Galaxy S8. However, this program is available only for Note 7 owners in South Korea.

Customers in South Korea who trade in their Galaxy Note 7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge are eligible to take part in this program. They will be eligible for an upgrade to a Galaxy S8 or a Galaxy Note 8 when the handsets are launched next year. It is confirmed that customers will only have to pay half the price of their Galaxy S7 phone to exchange it for the brand new Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8.

Hence, if you have Galaxy Note 7, exchange it for Galaxy S7 now. After the launch of Galaxy S8, you can exchange S7 to S8 by paying 50 percent of the cost of Galaxy S8.

Meanwhile, Samsung is also offering a 50 percent discount on LCD panel repair costs twice. You should note that the Galaxy upgrade program has no monthly fees like the currently available Galaxy Club program. The newly announced program will be open until November 30. After that, the smartphone major will announce a new method in consultation with its carrier partners.

If you have already exchanged the Galaxy Note 7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, you can join the program by submitting a retrospective application. Even though it is specified that Galaxy Note 8 will be available at 50 percent discount, you should accept it with a pinch of salt. This is because there are reports that Samsung will completely ditch Galaxy Note series after Note 7 fiasco.

As of writing this, the Samsung Galaxy Upgrade program has only been announced for customers in South Korea. We don’t have any information about the launch of the program outside Korea.
