Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 4 Android 5.0 update release date schedule leaks

The waiting game for Android 5.0 Lollipop is slowly coming to an end for users in the U.S after Samsung unveiled the same in Europe. Momentum behind the operating system has increased in the recent days with Galaxy S5 and Note users in the U.K receiving the update.

The new update comes with a string of new features as well as visual overhaul and a number of under-the-hood improvements. The upgrades are intended to make the OS more efficient lighter on the battery, as well as faster.

The recent roll out in the U.K. seems to suggest that users in the U.S will only have to wait a short while as European markets of Poland Russia and Spain continue to initiate the upgrade. Prior to the release in the U.K, a purported Samsung employee had reportedly leaked an email indicating that Galaxy S5, as well as Note 4 users, would receive the update of Android 5.0 in January.

Galaxy S5 is being given the top priority by Samsung, being the flagship device for the company; Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 3 are reportedly following closely from behind. The delay, in unveiling the Android 5.0 Lollipop, has been attributed to Samsung trying to revamp the platform with new features that should make it easier for users to customize it.

It will reportedly take a month or so before Samsung unveils Android 5.0.2 as works continue on integrating it with TouchWiz skin. Android 5.0 is poised to introduce an entirely different Material Design Language and should look completely different compared to the previous designs. It is set to add Google’s Now Card style notifications as well as inbuilt Android Beam features.

Some hardware manufacturers are poised to take some time before initiating the updates on their devices as tests continue. Manufacturers may also look to add their own flavor via UI overlays while also integrating new system features and designs.
