Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, S5 Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update details

Samsung has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones. While communicating the development, Samsung revealed that it is also planning to roll out Android 6.0 software updates for other Galaxy smartphones by the end of Q2 2016.

Moreover, Samsung will likely issue separate statements on detailing software updates scheduled for its smartphones lineup based on the current market situation for upgradable models.

Even though Android 6.0 Marshmallow was officially released in October 2015, it will take few months for the existing handsets to obtain due to various factors involved. However, newly released Samsung phones have a greater chance of getting the update.

According to unconfirmed sources, Samsung is expected to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow software updates for Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge+, Note 5, Note 4, Note Edge, and S5 on US Cellular, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint before the end of April 2016.

Meanwhile, some users in Korea received Android 6.0 updates for their Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 devices with the rollout beginning in a phased manner.

While Samsung will officially release Android 6 updates in the last week of February for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones, the company is also expected to release updates for the recently released Galaxy S6 Edge + and the Note 5 around the first week of March.

Other Samsung devices in the pipeline to get Android 6 update include Galaxy S5, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Edge, Galaxy Tab S2 including the Note 4 Edge.

While the Galaxy S5, Note 4, and Note Edge is expected to get the update before the end of April, other devices would probably receive Android 6 M update by the end of Q2 2016 although there is no official confirmation.
