Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge issues: Camera crash, display sensitivity, more and solutions

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are the flagship smartphone with the best hardware which Samsung can add. The most annoying situation is when you buy these expensive smartphones then you expect them to be perfect. Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge issues being faced by some users are camera app crashing and capacitive buttons not working. Here are some problems with possible fix and workarounds.

1. Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge issues: Camera Fail to launch

Some users are complaining that after launching the camera app, the screen goes blank leaving an error message which says “Warning, camera failed.” Both Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users are experiencing this camera fail to launch error. We found some possible fix for this problems, check them out.Galaxy-S7-Edge-Camera-Failed-Error

Solution

This error can be causing by a feature called Smart Stay in Samsung smartphones. This feature keeps a track on your eyes and controls the phone to go to sleep while you are not watching directly on the display. This feature uses the front camera to track the eye movement of the user and cause the camera app to crash. To turn this feature off go to Settings > Display and turn off the Smart Stay feature. You can also try to clear the cache in default camera app, go to Settings > App Manager > Camera and clear data and cache.

2. Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge issues: Display sensitivity

All Samsung smartphones come with the super sensitive screen; you can just flick your finger across the screen to scroll a full website. Some Galaxy S7 users are experiencing display sensitivity issue; they are reporting some accidental touch or no touch (because your palm is already touching the screen).

This issue causes some inconvenience like unresponsive camera shutter key and while scrolling long websites. Samsung smartphones come with sensitivity settings to increase screen sensitivity so you can use your phone while wearing gloves.

Solution

The solution is simple, just check if you have turned on the sensitivity toggle in quick settings. Always keep your smartphone updated, go to Settings > About Phone > Check for updates. Or you can add a bumper case to your phone to put some extra millimeters between your fingers and the screen.

3. Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge issues: Distorted Audio in loudspeaker

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are waterproof with an IP68 rating which means you can submerge your S7 or S7 Edge in water up to 1.5 meters without affecting the performance. But some users are still experiencing distorted audio through the loudspeaker and that annoying “Moisture detected” message.

Solution

The solution for this issue is simple, just keep your phone away from moisture and do not try to test waterproofing of this device. If your phone accidently gets wet, turn it on after making sure that the ports are dry. You can

Tip: Keep it in the sun or bury it in a bag of rice to dry it quickly.

4. Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge issues: Unresponsive capacitive buttons

Samsung is using capacitive buttons before it’s Android devices. This is the first time I’m listening from Samsung users about unresponsive capacitive buttons. The problem is more on Galaxy S7 Edge than the Galaxy S7.galaxy s7

Solution

You can test the capacitive buttons using any hardware testing app on Google Play Store. You can also test capacitive buttons in safe mode. To enter the device in the safe mode, turn off the device and turn it on by pressing the power button and when Samsung logo starts leaving, press power button and volume down.

  1. The Camera lens on the back of the S7 phone’s is defective. The lenses will crack or shatter and have done so on thousands of the phones with no impact involved. There are pages and pages of complaints posted on the Internet regarding this. All these people have the same issue, no impact simply discovered the lens was broken when they went to take a picture and it was blurry. Many folks even had the phone in an otter box when the lens shattered. I am sending back my phone for this issue as we speak. Same issue… defective camera lens. No idea when or why it happened.

Samsung is waffling, Samsung has hedged but says they will fix or replace the phone. But I am hearing some people say Samsung has tried to bill them for this. We’ll see. BTW, my phone is just a couple months old and has been in a case since day one. The case extends out so the camera lens sits recessed far from the surface of the case. Nearly impossible to impact the lens. Yet it is broken.

  2. My main gripe with the screen is the sensitivity while scrolling through google news. Not one journalist has mentioned this yet it’s very common. Quite frequently, the screen will register a down scroll gesture as a left swipe which will take you to a whole separate news sub page. So it interrupts where I was on the main google news home page and I have to swipe right to get back to where I left off. Happens so frequently I’m very surprised I haven’t thrown the phone through a wall. Come on Samsung! Google sites should be the first thing you test your device on. Invest in American QA testers!

  3. What isn’t published is the weakness of the edge screen compared to S6 edge. The S7 design is much worse as it cracked on its first tiny fall of 30cm. Out of the 5 people i know with S7 edge’s 4 of them have cracked screens and the one still has his screen has it in an armoured heavy duty case – what is the point of the edge screen then?? The journalists been doing a terrible job really questioning the quality of the phones, especially the screen survivability, its probably the most common problem with phones these days and would have been nice if someone published the thing is so easy to break.

    • They claim gorilla glass. A single fall from pocket has killed it. And yes phone was having original Samsung back cover as well. Since june.16 living with screen having line separating it into two halves. went to Samsung to lodge complaint. I was told screen not covered for fall. And here I am still using iPhone 5s brought two years ago that fell from pocket more than 10 times and nothing has happened to that phone. While purchasing I asked Samsung dealer to give phone insurance. I was told sir no need its toughened Cornella gorilla glass. Don’t waste your money. And today I am living with phone with damaged screen which requires USD 275 (INR 18000.00) just to change glass. Also in few month of use Home button key is off color? Which gives a wow effect.. Great Job!! But No Steve Job!! My experience doesn’t end here,
I spend so much to become one of the few first buyers of this device in Mumbai. And when I purchased they were selling VR at half the price with s7edge, & today almost free?? Why company so big like Samsung makes such a delicate phone and hide such information from customer? Why we need to pay so much for such high design when you actually require to keep this designer phone in safe locker OR bubble wrapped film OR within a full body case?? And why Samsung cannot respect their own creations? why they drop prices so often?? I went to highest of the people up to their CEO (India) office with my protest.. They just don’t care. When companies executives (up to top level) don’t respect their customers who in a way writes their pay checks. Their Karmas takes over & with Note 7 failure. I am feeling good. Typical human behavior. JUSTICE IS BEEN SERVED!!

  5. […] Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge’s camera scored second best score (88) on DxO Mark. It comes with a 12 MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture size which makes it good for low light conditions and PDAF. The front facing camera is 5 MP with same f/1.7 aperture size and auto HDR. Both of the smartphones features OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and capable of shooting 4K videos. […]
