What do you need?

  • The Reliance Jio SIM kit
  • A smartphone with VoLTE support
    Reliance Jio LYF Flame 6 is a good option (only when you are not using it as primary smartphone)

Setup Jio SIM in your smartphone:

  1. Insert the Jio SIM card in the 4G SIM card slot in your smartphone and turn on the device.
  2. You will receive a message that your device is ready to be activated.
  3. You need to make a call to 1977 using the Jio SIM, proceed to the instruction on call.
  4. Once activated, you will receive a message with settings. You need to save the settings or follow the instructions in the SMS.
  5. After setup, you will receive a message to welcome you on setting up the Jio ID. Follow the instructions on the message to check if all the Jio services are working seamlessly.
  6. Next, you will see a prompt to install Jio apps from the store. Install MyJio app from the Jio app bundles to manage or add services to your smartphone.

You need the Jio ID you just created to log into the Jio apps. In the My Jio apps bundle, you will find more Jio apps to download and install and these Jio apps work with the Jio ID you just created.

If you set up the Jio SIM on Flame 6 smartphone then there is no use for it, you need a high-end device with VoLTE support to run the 4G services. If your phone do not support VoLTE and you bought the Flame 6 smartphone then don’t worry, you can use this Flame 6 smartphone as a Wi-Fi router to enjoy 4G speed on other smartphones and devices.

Make portable hotspot:

  1. Go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot > Setup Wi-Fi hotspot.

  2. Turn on the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot toggle.
  3. Tap on Set up Wi-Fi hotspot and enter the desired network name and password, click Save.
  4. You will see a Wi-Fi hotspot icon on the left side of the status bar.

Now on other devices, open Wi-Fi and connect to the Wi-Fi network you just created (default is AndroidAP). By this, you can get the 4G speed on other smartphones. Samsung Electronics and Reliance Jio have collaborated to offer unlimited calls, data and premium applications to Samsung smartphone users completely free of cost for three months.

According to sources close to the Technology Personalized, Samsung smartphone buyers are eligible for the Jio Preview Offer which will provide them with a Reliance Jio SIM free of cost. Using which, they can avail unlimited voice calling, messages and data for a period of three months without any charges.

It is the first time the Reliance Jio is being made available other than the company’s own range of Lyf smartphones. Till now, Reliance Jio can only be used exclusively from Reliance Lyf smartphones. This offer can be utilized not only by the new users but also by the existing users having eligible smartphones from Samsung.

How to avail the offer:

To avail the offer, MyJio app needs to be installed to the eligible Samsung device. A coupon will be generated by clicking Get Jio SIM button. After that, submission of an appropriate address and ID proof is required to successfully complete the registration for the Jio SIM. Reliance Jio Lyf Flame 1, Lyf Wind 6 Dual-SIM 4G smartphones launched in India with VoLTE and VoWiFi support. Jio’s new Lyf phones will be available via more than 1,20,000 retail outlets through a network of over 1200 distributors across India as well as Reliance Digital online.

Reliance Jio Infocom spokesperson revealed that Lyf Flame 1 is designed specifically to capture ‘perfect selfies every time’ and also to offer a great video calling experience.

While Lyf Flame 1 flaunts a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) display oriented for entry-level users, Lyf Wind 6 sports a 5-inch FWVGA IPS display at a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. Lyf Wind 6 has a 2250mAh battery which is slightly larger than Lyf Flame 1 at 2000mAh.

Both the Lyf phones feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (MSM8909) chipset clocked at 1.1 GHz, Adreno 304 GPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage (expandable up to 32GB) and is loaded with Android Lollipop 5.1. Moreover, they come equipped with connectivity features such as 4G, VoLTE, VoWiFi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0.

On the photography front, both Lyf Flame 1 and Lyf Wind 6 smartphones offer a 5MP primary camera with support for features such as LED flash, blink detection, smile detection and among others including a 5MP front-facing shooter.

Manufactured using a premium gloss finish and compact design, Lyf Wind 6 comes in Black, White and Gold colour variants. However, Lyf Flame 1 will be available in Black, White, Dark Red and Dark Blue variants. Wind 6 features a thickness of 8.7mm and comes bundled with a complimentary transparent back cover in the box.

Reliance Jio had announced the launch of Lyf Earth 1 with a 5.5-inch FHD display and 32GB of storage in January without revealing the pricing details and was made available to over 1 lakh Reliance employees across India for testing purpose.

Lyf Earth 1 Reliance’s first 4G smartphone announced: Features and Specifications

Reliance Jio revealed specifications of Lyf Earth 1, company’s first 4G smartphone under the brand name Lyf. Meanwhile, an unboxing video uploaded by The Quint caught headlines and cleared the picture of what Reliance Jio will offer Indian consumers in the form of its upcoming 4G smartphone.

Reliance Jio is scheduled to launch four different series of smartphones under the LyF brand, which will be named after the four elements – Earth, Water, Wind and Fire. The Earth 1 is placed under the premium segment and will be the first smartphone in the series.

Powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC processor, Lyf Earth 1 features a 5.5-inch AMOLED Full HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, Adreno 405 GPU integrated with 32GB of internal storage, 3500mAh battery and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

On the camera front, Lyf Earth 1 comes with dual 13MP and 2MP primary cameras located on the back, supplemented by a 5MP camera on the front.

Lyf Earth 1 weighs 163 grams at elegant 7.23mm thickness. It will include all major connectivity options that i.e. 4GB LTE, VoLTE, and VoWiFi. Moreover, users can access a wide range of Reliance services from within Lyf Earth 1.

As of reporting this, we have no precise information on when Lyf Earth 1 will officially make its way clear to the general public. However, Reliance Jio 4G services are currently available for nearly 1 lakh Reliance employees across the country.

Reliance Jio unveils new logo and hoardings for upcoming 4G mobiles LYF

Reliance Jio has released the logo and hoardings for its upcoming 4G mobile devices under the brand name LYF. The hoardings contain 12 special Telugu emojis and are available on the official Twitter handle @JioAmaravati. The new properties are released ahead of the Amravati Marathon sponsored by the group.

We spotted the new logo of the upcoming device on every important building at the 500-acre Reliance Corporate Park campus in Navi Mumbai. The logo consists of LYT and a love symbol in the middle followed by Jio.

Reliance Jio handsets are currently available only to employees of Reliance Industries. We expect LYF is used for marketing purposes and will not be the final brand name.

The LYF smartphones are expected to feature 5-inch IPD display, Snapdragon 615 processor, Android Lollipop 5.0.2 in addition to an array of services accessible only through the phone. The 4G dual-SIM slots are expected to include a capability to connect to third-party networks.

The devices supplied to employees have the capability to deliver up to 50-70 Mbps of speed in addition to the ability to connect to 10 devices at the same time.

There are unconfirmed reports that Reliance is scheduled to extend these features for smartphones manufactured for consumers. The LYF branded smartphones will likely hit the market towards the end of Q1 2016.
