TP-Link Archer C60 router review

TP-Link recently released a new router Archer C60 which is a dual band router with five antennas. TP-Link Archer C60 comes with all the best features which you might need a wireless router for your home. Archer C60 also features a beautiful design so it won’t spoil your gaming setup or the beauty of your room. The router can be operated on a single or dual band to extend the range of the Wi-Fi. Let’s see of this router is better than it’s predecessor Archer C50 which was released last year.

Unboxing

The Archer C60 is boxed in a large box with a power adapter and RJ 45 cable, although there is enough space on the box to print the manual but TP-Link added a quick start guide and warranty card. The router itself is fixed on a recycled cardboard tray with all the antennae’s aligned with the router, The antennae’s are non-removable.

Design

The Archer C60 AC 1350 is big and the design is a bit different from what you usually see in any regular Wi-Fi router. The router looks fantastic with a white shiny pattern on the top with TP-Link branding and LED status lights strip. The edges are slanted and have holes for ventilation with the downward opening. The ports are positioned at the back of the router, starting from the left you’ll get; power adapter port, power button, WPS key, reset pin-hole, the internet (RJ45) port and four Ethernet LAN ports.

The antennas are positioned as; three at the back which includes two 5 GHz antennas and one 2.4 GHz antenna and two 2.4 GHz antennas on the sides. The antennas are well built, made of plastic and shaped as a drop (round with one edge) to spread the connection properly. Also, flaunts TP-Link branding on them, these are not removable but adjustable to get the best Wi-Fi reception all over your house.

Features

With Archer C60, you will get fast wireless internet speed on all of your devices with speed up to 1.35 Gbps at 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands concurrently. With five antennas including three 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz placed in such a way so you will get the wider wireless range. The dual band antennas reduce glitches and connection drop to give you a better and stable connection on all of your devices and you can do all your priority job like conferencing easily.

To get a better multiplayer gaming experience, Archer C60 comes with four Ethernet LAN ports painted in yellow at the back of the router. The WPS button is also there at the back so you can connect your devices with the push of the key. You will also get a guest network feature which allows guests to connect to your internet connection and protecting your privacy using the WPS-PSK/WPA2-PSK2 encryption provided.

Setup and Dashboard

Setting up the router is pretty easy and simple task to do, you don’t need to be the networking expert for setting up Archer C60. After connecting the router to the power and the internet line, you have to log into the router’s dashboard and set it up for the first time. Connect your laptop or PC to the router’s Wi-Fi connection and visit http://tplinkwifi.net, you will be presented with a quick setup guide asking about basic questions. While setting up, you’ll be asked to setup set up bands, you can select which band to turn off, you can also turn on/off bands after setting up in settings.

The Dashboard will be presented to you with some basic information about the router and number of wired and wirelessly connected devices. The Advanced settings tab is for the advanced users or networking experts with settings like parental controls, NAT forwarding, VPN server and system tools. There are some more options in the dashboard like turning on/off the status LED and rebooting the router.

Performance

Talking about performance, the router comes with the top notch features to give you the best range and fastest speed. Setting up the router is easy and it also comes with a TP-Link Tether app to control your router from your smartphone itself. The coverage of the Archer C60 is excellent, the signal strength is strong everywhere in each and every part of the home even through the walls. We got the best internet speed even on every level and the signal bar is full everywhere. Overall it does exactly what it’s made for and does it better than its competitors in the market.

Verdict

The TP-Link Archer C60 is available online for Rs. 3300 which makes it the best affordable router with dual-band five antennas. Setting up the router and overall the features of the router are good, the wireless network strength is great and covers a larger area. The only feature which this router lacks is a USB port for NAS storage but if that’s not your requirement then TP-Link Archer C60 is the best option for you.
