San Francisco – Twitter Inc. [NASDAQ: TWTR] has launched a food specific handle @TwitterFood to appeal to the foodies out there. A number of celebrity Chefs and foodies are on Twitter and they share a number of tweets about food, share pictures, recipes and dining places. Twitter’s official handle @TwitterFood is a way to bring interesting tweets about the food at a place.

Twitter aims to bring foodies, chefs, restaurateurs and Food lovers on a common platform. Twitter Food isn’t the first specific account released by Twitter apart from Twitter Music and Twitter Sports. Specific handles like @TwitterFood can add to the appeal of Social Media site by offering specific content to users. This could add to the appeal and may help Twitter add more people to the platform
Twitter has been under a lot pressure lately due to losing ground to Facebook & Instagram. Twitter is also not doing great financially. Last week shares of Twitter fell more than 20% when the results of its First Quarter were leaked online.
Twitter is trying hard to rebuild its image and appear to the social media needs of consumers by introducing niche features. It has introduced features such as Direct messaging, Highlights and Retweet with comments.
