Uber releases universal windows 10 app, adds Cortana and desktop support

Uber has released an updated app for Windows 10 PCs, tablets, and smartphones. The updated version provides support for Cortana with which you can just speak out the address where you want ride to be booked.

Uber has also added support for desktop edition of Windows 10. This means with a single unified app; you will be able to take advantage of the features in all Windows devices.

For instance, you can book a ride using your PC and attend to calls from the driver via smartphone. The updated app displays the estimated time that will take for your Uber to arrive when you pin the app to your Windows 10 start menu.

The catch deal is that you will be able to get a free ride up to $20 for those users who have installed the app for the first time. You can redeem this offer by providing the coupon code MSFTWIN10 in the Promotions tab while booking a ride.

In order to download and install the Uber app, you need access to the latest Windows 10 November Update 10586.29.

As a user, you will not be able to view any difference when you work with different platforms. The app will be customized to match the size of your smartphone.

You should provide a registered phone number with the service to request a ride, and all other steps can be completed from within Windows 10.

We are of the opinion that desktop version of the app will be useful for those customers who want to book a ride from their office environment. Sometimes, users will not have access to Windows phone. In such a scenario, desktop app will be a big bonus and will provide useful.

We believe that Uber should upgrade their mobile app regularly because it is used by a large number of users because of its simplicity. Moreover, they should make sure to develop a separate app for tablets.
