WhatsApp rolls out new camera feature: Now write, draw on images and videos

WhatsApp's Rolls out New camera feature lets users write and draw on images and videos, apart from adding Emojis and Text

WhatsApp has introduced a new customization option for images and video which are shared on the instant messaging app on October 3, 2016. The new camera feature enables users to write or draw on pictures and videos. Users will also be able to add emojis. The feature is at present is available for Android devices and will be available on iOS devices soon.

WhatsApp has updated the application and introduced extra features for chatting and sharing multimedia. It has added stickers which are seen on Twitter and Snapchat. The labels are called Twemoji and have been created by Twitter Open Source and are available for use by users under an MIT and Creative Commons license. The stickers can be embossed on videos and images; text can also be added on top of multimedia shares, and there is an option to change font and colors.

Users can draw directly on the pictures with different colors; can layer multiple stickers on a picture along with the drawings. The labels can be dragged, rotated, and can be resized using the pinching gesture. The app offers more colors and fonts than Snap chat besides offering the option to use speech and thought bubbles as well.

The options to write draw and add stickers are nothing new and are available to Snapchat users for a long time. Incidentally, this is not the first Snapchat feature which the Facebook-owned applications are adding to its existing features. Earlier Facebook had introduced a new feature called Messenger Day, much akin to Snapchat’s Stories feature. Of late Instagram added Stories format just like Snapchat in August.

WhatsApp is also offering support for the front facing flash to take selfies from the apps inbuilt camera only. Also added is a zooming feature for recording videos when users have just to slide their fingers up and down to zoom.
