Xiaomi Mi4 releasing tomorrow in India for Rs. 20,000

The Apple of China, Xiaomi has announced its plans to launch its latest 4G handset, the Mi4, in the Indian market tomorrow. With the launch, the Chinese phone-maker seeks to establish itself more profoundly in India, which is seen to be a growing market for smartphones. In an interview with IndianExpress.com, the company’s India head, Manu Jain, mentioned that the company will introduce the phone in India at an initial offer of Rs. 20,000 approximately.

Xiaomi had launched its first phone in India in 2014. It had entered the market with the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, the Redmi Note and the 3G version of the latest phone, the Mi3. The company had launched its phone on the e-commerce platform in collaboration with Flipkart. Within a span of one year, India became the second biggest market for the company, after its homeland, China.

The Mi4 was launched in the other markets worldwide in July 2014. But the company refrained from introducing the device in the Indian market at the time. It also introduced its other flagship models in a Beijing event last week- the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro.

The latest phone Mi4 is a 5-inch smartphone with IPS display and resolution of 1920X1080 pixels at 441 ppi. The screen is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon Qualcomm 801 processor of 2.5 GHz. It comes with a 3GB RAM and runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform. Additional features include 13MP rear and 8 MP front camera for supporting 4K video recording.

The chief attraction of the new phone lies in its connectivity options, as it among the few devices in the country that offer 4G network. The Xiaomi Mi4 supports the 4G LTE network and offers other connectivity options, such as 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The smartphone has a battery support of 3080 mAh.
