Even as the excitement builds for the impending release of Apple’s newest iPhones and Apple Watches later this week, the tech giant seems to be gearing up for another product announcement in October. This event is expected to refresh some of the products that didn’t get their due attention at the recent iPhone event.
M4 Macs Take Center Stage
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the October event will primarily focus on the debut of the first wave of Macs equipped with M4 processors. Following the introduction of the standard M4 in the iPad Pro earlier this year, we can anticipate new MacBook Pro models featuring the M4 and “pro-level M4 chip options,” likely the M4 Pro and M4 Max. Additionally, an M4 version of the 24-inch iMac is also on the cards.
The Revamped Mac mini
Perhaps the most intriguing of the new Macs will be the redesigned Mac mini, which has been patiently waiting for an M3 update and has retained the same external design since 2010. This new Mac mini is rumored to be closer in size to the Apple TV than the current model, while still incorporating an internal power supply. It is expected to feature USB-C and/or Thunderbolt ports, replacing some of the existing ports. Interestingly, there are whispers of a “five-port” Mac mini model, hinting at the possibility of multiple configurations with varying port options.
Other Mac Updates and New iPads
Gurman also suggests that other Mac models, including the Mac Studio, Mac Pro, and MacBook Air, will receive M4-series updates throughout 2025. The October event is also rumored to showcase new lower-end iPads, with the $349 iPad 10 and the iPad mini being prime candidates for updates, potentially featuring newer chips or even redesigned models.
In conclusion, Apple’s October event promises to be an exciting showcase of new Macs and iPads, further solidifying the company’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement.
