Rural India will be the primary pusher of this growth. There is a vast expanse of the country that needs to be covered by the web.
According to IAMAI, the increase of local language content will spawn a spawn a growth of 39% in the current Internet user base. The growth of 16% in the urban internet segment was primarily driven by mobile internet users.
India pitched its case to the US a fortnight ago to establish route servers. It feels the internet must be more democratic and should be beyond the ten root servers in the US located mostly in a military research lab, universities and NASA. India will soon overtake the US and become the second largest Internet market soon. Shortly this is a possibility.
