Hello Windows Insiders, we are excited to announce the rollout of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3000 (KB5050103) to those in the Dev Channel.
Key Updates and Enhancements
Gradual Deployment of Features
Windows 11 Dev Channel updates are categorized under two main types: features, improvements, and fixes available immediately for Insiders using the update toggle (accessible via Settings > Windows Update) and those that are phased in for all users in the Dev Channel. Further details can be found in the Reminders section of this post.
Refined Battery Iconography
We’re thrilled to introduce redesigned battery icons in Windows 11, enhancing how you view your PC’s power status. The updated icons feature distinct colors to represent different charging states and simplified overlays for clearer visibility of the progress bar. Users can now easily enable the display of the battery percentage by navigating to Settings > Power & battery and toggling on the “Battery Percentage” option.
Green indicates charging, yellow signals energy-saving mode (activated automatically when the battery is at 20% or lower), and red warns of a critical battery level, prompting an immediate need to charge.
Additional Updates
Gamepad Keyboard Layout and Narrator Enhancements
After addressing previous issues, we have reintroduced the Gamepad keyboard layout for the touch keyboard, allowing Xbox controller support for navigation and typing. We’ve also enhanced the Narrator’s scan mode with new functionalities, like quick jumps to list items or table ends, activated by specific key combinations in scan mode.
Search and Suggested Actions Improvements
Enhancements in Windows Search now provide better support for various web search providers in the EEA, with clear provider attributions. Meanwhile, suggested actions for copied phone numbers or dates are being phased out, starting with this build.
Ongoing Fixes and Known Issues
General and File Explorer Fixes
This build addresses several issues, including performance degradation in the prior build due to background crashes and navigation problems within File Explorer. We have also improved the display and search functionalities for cloud files in File Explorer.
Live Captions and Real-Time Translation
Some users might encounter issues with live captions on first launch or when switching languages with active audio. Restarting live captions or stopping audio playback during language changes can resolve these issues.
Forward-Looking Statements
Please note that features tested and introduced in Dev Channel builds might not be released commercially as we evaluate different concepts based on your feedback. Features could be modified, replaced, or removed based on their performance and user feedback.
