Reliance Jio is all set to roll out its 4G LTE services in August 15. It has already laid four thousand kilometers of optical fiber cables across Goa. The services are already being used by beta subscribers who have been on board with a unique referral scheme.
Reliance Jio had three days ago talked about its partnership with Samsung to offer 4G services on select Samsung Smartphone. It is now known that Jio has also tied up with Apple and HP to provide similar services.
Jio 4G LTE is on offer for the users of the last two generations of the iPhone. In other words, the offer will be available for iPhone 6, 6s, 6s Plus and SE variants. It is also revealed that Jio has partnered with HP also, and customers of new handsets from HP will be getting three months of unlimited data.
For obtaining a Reliance Jio SIM, users will have first to download the Jio application and generate a code. Subsequently, the user will get a card from a Reliance store. SIM will be verified by calling on 1977 and after activation, the card is ready for use in any 4G enabled phones.
Jio has also launched Prepaid SIM cards, and the call rates are two paise per second for voice calls and five paise per second for video calls. Once the pack is over, Jio will charge 0.5 paise for 10 KB, which is logical since users will get 100MB data for just Rs. 50.
The company has pulled out all the plugs and working hard to spread the buzz before the expected launch date which is 15 August. Jio is also sponsoring the Indian Olympics team which is the largest ever fielded by the nation.
Competitors are also preparing for the entry of a formidable rival in the 4G LTE market. Changes have already been effected in tariff across the broad spectrum of 4G LTE service providers. Airtel is offering more data on their prepaid services, and the increase is in the range of 40 to 67 percent.
