Truecaller finally adds live caller ID on iPhones: How to enable the feature

Truecaller now offers live caller ID and spam blocking on iPhones with iOS 18.2 or later. Learn how to enable this feature and enhance your calling experience.

Truecaller finally adds live caller ID on iPhones

Truecaller, a popular caller identification and spam blocking app, has long been favored by Android users. However, its functionality on iPhones was limited due to the absence of its core feature: live caller ID. This meant that while users could search for numbers within the app, real-time identification of incoming calls was not possible.

This limitation has finally been addressed with the latest Truecaller update. As announced in September 2024 by Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi, the app now offers live caller ID on iPhones running iOS 18.2 or later. This update brings the iPhone experience in line with Android, allowing users to see who’s calling before they answer.

Enhanced Features and Functionality

The updated Truecaller app for iPhones also includes:

  • Automatic spam call blocking: This feature helps users avoid unwanted calls.
  • Call search history: Users can search through a history of identified calls, going back as far as 2,000 previous numbers in their recent call list.
  • Expanded database: Truecaller boasts a vast database of phone numbers and IDs, exceeding the scope of Apple’s own caller ID feature. This allows for more accurate caller identification.

While Truecaller Premium users enjoy full access to number search and caller ID features, free users can also utilize these features with the inclusion of ads.

Enabling Live Caller ID on iPhones

To enable live caller ID on your iPhone, ensure your device is running iOS 18.2 or later and the Truecaller app is updated to version 14.0 or later. Follow these steps:

  1. Open iPhone Settings.
  2. Navigate to Apps -> Phone -> Call Blocking & Identification.
  3. Enable all Truecaller switches.
  4. Open the Truecaller app.

The app will then automatically configure the remaining settings. This update marks a significant improvement for Truecaller on iPhones, potentially increasing its adoption among iOS users.
