Itel has recently launched the Super Guru series of feature phones in India, marking a significant step in making digital payments accessible to a wider audience. These phones integrate UPI payment functionality, catering specifically to users who prefer the simplicity and durability of feature phones but require modern financial tools.

The Super Guru series includes three models: the Super Guru 200, 400, and 600. Each model is designed with durability and ease of use in mind:

  • Super Guru 600: Priced at Rs 1,899, this model boasts a 2.8-inch display, a 1900mAh battery capable of 20 days of standby time, and a 1.3 MP camera. It features an elegant metallic design and supports multiple Indian languages.
  • Super Guru 400: Available for Rs 1,699, it features a 2.4-inch display and a 1200mAh battery, providing up to 14 days of standby time. It sports an ultra-slim metallic body and offers similar camera and language support as the other models.

All models come equipped with GSPay for UPI payments, developed in collaboration with Gupshup.io and powered by NPCI’s UPI 123 Pay, allowing users to make secure and quick digital transactions directly from their phones.

Market Impact and Availability

The Super Guru series is set to redefine the feature phone market in India by blending traditional usability with modern technology. These phones address the need for durable, long-lasting devices that can handle essential online functions like digital payments and multimedia consumption through pre-installed apps like YouTube.

These phones are now available for purchase through Itel’s official website and other authorized retailers across India. Itel aims to strengthen its foothold in the feature phone market by targeting users in rural and semi-urban areas, who often have limited access to smartphones and banking facilities.

The introduction of the Super Guru series by Itel in India is a forward-thinking move to bridge the digital divide, providing affordable, robust phones with essential modern functionalities. This launch not only caters to the practical needs of a significant segment of the Indian population but also aligns with the country’s push towards a more digitally inclusive society.
