YouTube to shutdown Video Editor, Photos Slideshow tools on September 20

Google has announced that it will shut down the YouTube‘s Video Editor and Photo slideshows tools from its website on 20th of September. However, the users whose videos are already published with Video Editor or Photos slideshows will be unaffected and they will able download their videos from the Video Editor in 720p (HD) resolution.

Apart from these two features, YouTube will keep the rest of the feature intact. Creators will still be able to continue with the Enhancement feature like trimming, blurring, and filters which can be found in the Video Manager tab under a Creator Studio section.

Announcing this latest update on the Google Product Forum page, Marissa, a community manager, said, “We’ve seen a limited usage of these features, so we’re retiring them to focus our efforts on building new tools and improving on other existing features.”

As the statement clearly indicates that the Google strategy is quite straight forward in terms of eliminating the old fashioned technology from their product line up. They wanted to keep the perfect mix of functionality and UI aspect in order to give users seamless experience throughout their access.
